Join Susan Freinkel, author of Plastic: A Toxic Love Story for a virtual guest lecture at Penn State. Freinkel will be talking about her work that explores the history of plastic production and the implications it has for human health and the environment. She combs through scientific studies and economic data, reporting from China and across the United States to assess the real impact of plastic on our lives. She tells her story through eight familiar products: a plastic comb, chair, Frisbee, IV bag, disposable lighter, grocery bag, soda bottle, and credit card.

Freinkel will be speaking to Earth and Mineral Science students studying with Prof. Raymond Naijar, but her talk is open to any and all. Pre-registration for the talk is forthcoming soon. Any questions, should be directed to Naijar at rgn1@psu.eduThis talk is co-sponsored by Penn State Sustainability.
