Sustainability Showcase Series — The Yes Men
October 21, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm EDT
Join the Sustainability Institute for its Sustainability Showcase Speaker Series, featuring inspiring leaders from a wide range of fields who work to advance sustainability. This year’s theme for our programming is Building Better Bonds, stories of bridging divides, healing rifts, and building community to advance collective goals.
The Yes Men are a group of satirical “laughtivists,” whose pranks highlight corporate and government hypocrisy and bring attention to neglected issues of social and environmental justice (think live action versions of a John Oliver sketch). For more than 20 years, they have brought global media attention to these issues by posing as members of everything from Dow Chemical to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Join us for a conversation with a Yes Man about their work and about how satirical activism can be adopted by many groups to create greater awareness and engagement with issues, while still building community.
All showcases are free and open to all. This showcase is being presented in conjunction with the Sustainability Institute’s screening of The Yes Men Are Revolting on Wednesday, October 26, at 7 p.m. online and in the HUB-Flex Theatre at the Penn State University Park campus. Learn more and register to attend that screening here.
Pre-registration is required for showcases. You can register for this webinar at this link.
