The Jana Marie Foundation and the Center for the Performing Arts invite the community into a Mokita® Dialogue on Putting the ‘You’ in Equity: Taking Action in Our Communities, facilitated by Dr. Seria Chatters on March 24th, from 11am – 12:30pm. Come and join us for a discussion on how we can move forward collectively to make real and substantial progress in our communities on equity and belonging. This Mokita Dialogues session will happen the day after the Center for the Performing Arts’ presentation of Mwenso and The Shakes’ Hope-Resist-Heal: A Celebration of Black Joy, and we are thrilled to include their perspectives in the conversation. Learn more about the facilitator, Dr. Seria Chatters:
Dr. Seria Chatters is the Director of Equity and Inclusivity in State College Area School District and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Penn State University in the Counselor Education Program. Dr. Chatters has been providing training in the area of diversity, equity, inclusion, mental health, and diagnosis for over a decade. She has worked in public schools as a professional school counselor, in private practice as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor. She was formerly the Coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health in Schools and Communities Emphasis program at Penn State and the President of the Pennsylvania Mental Health Counselors Association. She is currently the Chair of the College of Education’s Diversity and Community Enhancement Committee and a member of the College of Education’s Equity Team. Dr. Chatters’ work in DEI has been recognized by the Community Diversity Group, a joint coalition of Centre County businesses, who awarded Dr. Chatters with the Outstanding Individual Community Impact Award. Dr. Chatters was also honored to receive Penn State College of Education Climate Enhancement Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
