Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s 4th Annual Sustainability Week — “Action from All Angles”

Join Penn State Sustainability and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s GreenGov Council for the 4th Annual Sustainability Week, which this year focuses on Pennsylvania’s climate goals and how we are seeing “Action from All Angles.” Each day features a free, public webinar at noon focused on climate goals and action happening at all levels, from community to regional to state to federal and involving multiple sectors of society. The goal is to help attendees see how you can contribute to the broader effort of Pennsylvania’s climate mitigation and adaptation goals.
The schedule is as follows:
- Monday, October 7, 2024: 2035 Drawdown: Discussion of Partnerships & Emissions Reduction Strategies Needed to Support 2035 Goals – Panelists to present keys ways we need to work together now to get us on track to meet 2035 emissions reductions. Kick-off by DEP Secretary Jessica Shirley, Featuring: Brian Regli – Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of Critical Investments; Lara Fowler, Penn State University Chief Sustainability Officer; PA Dept. of Environmental Protection Secretary Jessica Shirley.
- Tuesday, October 8, 2024: Climate Strategies at Work: Happenings Around the State – A 90-minute tour of leaders from around the commonwealth sharing their actions and challenges. Featuring representatives from multiple city, county, and regional governments across Pennsylvania.
- Wednesday, October 9, 2024: Engaging Your Community: Local Climate Action – A presentation from the Centre Region Council of Governments and Bucks County Sustainability Office on tools and successful methods for local engagement around climate action planning. Featuring Pam Adams, Sustainability Planner, Centre Region Council of Governments, and Neale Doughtery, Director of Sustainability, Bucks County Planning Commission.
- Thursday, October 10, 2024: A Regional Approach: New Opportunities through Appalachian Sustainable Finance Hubs: Featuring Alaa Mohamed and Will Bernstein, Steel Valley Authority
- Friday, October 11, 2024: Businesses Leading on Climate: PA-based Businesses’ Climate Strategies: Learn from Pennsylvania businesses leaders about how businesses should be and are leading partners in responsibly addressing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate change. Speakers to be announced.
