The Sustainability Institute and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) are currently hiring a qualified and motivated student intern to act as program manager to coordinate waste reduction efforts during athletic events.
A successful candidate must have a basic understanding of sustainability issues, a passion for Penn State’s athletic traditions, and exceptional written and in-person communication skills. Duties include: Act as program coordinator for the President’s Box Zero-Waste efforts and STATER’s (Students Taking Action to Encourage Recycling) program during home football games; Work with ICA staff to coordinate a ‘Green Game Day’ during 2018 Blue and White weekend; Develop partnerships with the Blue and White Society and ICA Marketing to encourage environmentally friendly fan behavior and maximize collaboration.
The Associate Director for Student Engagement at the Sustainability Institute will provide day-to-day supervision with strong mentorship from the ICA Facilities Operations/Management staff.
Working hours are flexible with a minimum of 10 hours during the academic year and an increase up to 30 hours for the summer.
