To protect and preserve ecosystems, United States national parks educate their visitors about sustainable practices. In support of these efforts, Derrick Taff, associate professor in the Penn State Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management, recently completed a scholar-in-residence program with the Rocky Mountain Conservancy.

During the program, he studied how visitor education impacted the improvement of sustainability practices within Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado. Taff conducted this research in partnership with Leave No Trace, an organization that promotes outdoor recreation conservation and everyday sustainability behaviors.
