Sustainability Showcase Speaker Series — Mark Anner: “Labor Control and Worker Resistance in Global Supply Chains”
September 23 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm EDT
Join the Sustainability Institute for the next edition of its weekly Sustainability Showcase Speaker Series featuring Mark Anner, Director of Penn State’s Center for Global Workers’ Rights. Mark will be speaking on “Labor Control and Worker Resistance in Global Supply Chains,” drawing on his research about labor movements worldwide and especially in workers in Bangladesh and Honduras who supply clothing for fast fashion industries. His talk builds on the Intersections film screening earlier on Wednesday, September 21, at 6:30 p.m. of ABC da Greve, about the power of strikes and the labor movement as illustrated in Brazil.
The theme for all the Showcases this year is Building Better Bonds, focused on how people are working to build stronger communities that together are better able to overcome the sustainability challenges facing us.
Mark Anner’s showcase talk will be online on Zoom on Friday, September 23, at noon and is open to all. Registration here is required.
