Join the Sustainability Institute for the next speaker in our Sustainability Showcase Speaker Series, which this year is on the broad theme of Building Better Bonds and how we can work together to create resilient communities.

Judd Greenstein is a composer of beat-driven contemporary classical music. His opera A Marvelous Order dramatizes the clash between activist Jane Jacobs and New York City power broker Robert Moses over community self-determination. Greenstein will discuss the power of art in making visible hidden social conflicts and how to humanize struggles that may seem abstract to outside observers.

His talk is part of the world premiere of A Marvelous Order, which will take place on Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) in the Eisenhower Auditorium at Penn State’s University Park campus. Tickets and more information about the performance are available here.

The showcase talk is free to attend and open to all. Please note that unlike our other showcases this fall, this talk will NOT be livestreamed on Zoom. It will, bowever, be recorded and the recording sent to registrants in the week following. The talk will be in HUB 233AB on the Penn State University Park campus.
