Shinrin-Yoku, Forest Bathing Series
April 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm EDT
Health Promotion & Wellness (HPW), a Student Affairs unit, and the Arboretum at Penn State are hosting a series of Shinrin-Yoku, Forest Bathing events starting March 12 and occur every Tuesday through April 23.
Forest Bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of “taking in the forest.” It is a research-based approach that supports health and wellness through guided, slow, sensory walks. A forest bathing walk is designed to help balance your body, mind, and spirit by shifting attention from your thoughts to your senses.
These events are led by Anna Marie Nachman, a certified forest therapy guide trained in the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy Guides and Programs (ANFT). The spring walks begin March 12 and will occur every Tuesday through April 23 at the Hartley Wood in the Arboretum at Penn State. Sessions are at 4–5:15 p.m. and 5:30–6:45 p.m. Space is limited to 15 participants. Participants must register online to reserve their spots. The directions for the exact meeting location will be shared after registration.
Individuals who participated in the Fall 2023 Forest Bathing walk indicated they experienced nature differently and appreciated taking time to forget about their worries.
