

Learning and Education in Graduate Worker Organizing: A Panel Discussion

| FreeThis panel discussion will explore how learning and education shape graduate student organizing campaigns. Social movements are often described as schools, where organizing becomes a process of learning and educating. Speakers will share insights on what and how people learn through and for organizing, highlighting the educational practices that emerge within unionization efforts. The event will feature keynote panelist Dr. Kate Ragon, Assistant Clinical Professor of Labor and Employment Relations and Labor Education Coordinator at Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations. Panelists include Grace Easterly, President of GEU-UAW Local 6950 at the University of Connecticut; CJ Gust, Organizer for CGE-UAW at Pennsylvania State University; Chidera Ntiwunka-Ifeanyi, Executive Council member of the International Student and Workers Solidarity Committee with AAUP-AFT, AFL-CIO at Rutgers University; and Lauren Wewer, Bargaining Chair for Pitt Grad Union-USW at the University of Pittsburgh. The discussion is sponsored by Penn State’s Consortium for Social Movements and Education Research and Practice (CSMERP), the Center for Global Workers’ Rights (CGWR), and the Lifelong Learning and Adult Education (LLAED) Program.
