Remembering our Freedom to Empower our Future

The State College NAACP and the State College Borough will be hosting their second Juneteenth Commemoration on Saturday, June 19th from 1:00 pm- 2:30 pm at the MLK Plaza rain or shine. This event acknowledges the 158th year since freedom was proclaimed with the Emancipation Proclamation and the 156th anniversary of the news reaching slaves in Confederate Texas. There will be local performances, music, spoken word, drumming and discussion. Fun and festivities kick off at 1 pm and will be followed by a late afternoon Documentary & Discussion with film producers of District Greenwood: The Amalgamated People at 3 DOTS from 3 -5 pm.

Please note the event will be live-streamed and recorded via CNET1.org. We will also observe the occasion with masks and social distancing.
