Join Penn State in participating in the global Earth Hour celebration. This annual event, drawing more than 2 million participants around the world, provides us an hour to pause and reflect on our impact on the planet and to celebrate ways we can turn towards a more sustainable future.

Earth Hour 2022 hopes to highlight that the Penn State community is not a singular group … but a diverse collection of exceptional faculty, staff, current/former students, and community members who are deeply committed to acting toward the social and environmental issues facing our global community.

Building on the success of Earth Hour 2021, EcoReps are coordinating another lantern display on Old Main & the Nittany Lion Shrine. Earth Hour is part of a larger effort spanning 190 countries to harness the power of the people and showcase our pursuit of social and environmental justice. There are two ways for you to participate …

  • Decorate a Lantern in person while the EcoReps are tabling from 11 – 3 pm on Monday, March 21st, or Thursday, March 24th, at the East & South Campus Commons, HUB, and Ryan Family Center; or
  • Submit your pledge online and the EcoReps will design a lantern to be displayed at the event!

The lanterns are a symbol of our pledge to turn off your lights during Earth Hour. Join us for Earth Hour 2022 on March 26th at 8:30pm on Old Main lawn to see your bag lit up alongside our Penn State and global community.
