The Penn State Berks Sustainability Council invites you to the first event of our ‘Celebrating Spring by Springing into Action’ series:

The Sustainable Self-Care Expo (co-sponsored by the campus Counseling Services) which will focus on how to care for ourselves while also caring for the environment and considering the social and environmental impacts of our actions, will be held on Monday March 20, 11am-1:30pm, Perkins Plaza/Lawn. The event is free and open to the public. The timing of the self-care expo coincides beautifully with the celebration of the first day of spring (spring equinox/Nowruz) and International Day of Happiness which focuses on reognizing the importance of happiness and well-being in promoting sustainable development and global peace.

So far, there will be 15+ stations led by community organizations/businesses, students, faculty, and staff. Stations will focus on: greenwashing and false marketing; sustainable wellness and care; making homemade self-care products; plogging & the first ever 5K Berks plogging event; sustainable art; outdoor & nature events by Berks Nature and Berks Earth Day committee; zero waste businesses (Kernerton & Refillable Goods); sustainable agriculture, shopping, & cooking; sustainable food & housing options on campus; sustainable self-care around the world; and civics & sustainablity (Berks Women League of Voters). Our campus garden will also serve as a station. Our brand new garden beds, soon to be placed in between the library and the bookstore, will be filled with medium and information on the connection of the campus garden (& other such campus features) and sustainable care and wellness will be shared. Attendees will participate in deciding what gets planted in each garden bed!

There will be LOTS of freebies and a chance to win prizes as you visit stations and earn raffle tickets. Light refreshments will be served (please bring your own cup/mug to cut down on waste).
