In partnership with the Leonhard Center, the Penn State Sustainable Lab program will lead a workshop about the lab program and the one-of-a-kind Sustainable Lab Ambassador program.

The Penn State Sustainable Lab Ambassador (SLA) program is an engaged scholarship approach to creating a more sustainable research lab culture and operation while preparing researchers to build a more sustainable world in their future careers. Utilizing undergraduate students as SLAs to support research lab efforts to operate more sustainably benefits the lab members, lab operations, and the students. By collaborating with the global non-profit My Green Lab’s certification efforts, SLAs participate as a cohort in a structured program that includes educational training as well as hands-on, immersive experiences in the laboratory setting. This workshop will provide a description of the program, the results from the first two years piloting the program at three Penn State campuses, and how to get involved.
