STATE COLLEGE, PA – The Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC), a collection of Penn State classes, is partnering with the State College Borough this year to promote local sustainability efforts and the relationship between Penn State and the local government.
SCC fall kick-off event
When: Sept. 11, 2014 at 4 p.m.
Where: State College borough building lobby
Open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The SCC is hosting an event on Thursday, Sept. 11th from 4-6 p.m., at the lobby of the State College Borough Building located at 243 S. Allen St., to celebrate past SCC collaborations and introduce fall projects.
The fall projects follow two distinct themes: sustainable energy planning and sustainable water resource management. Students and faculty are from courses such as Biological Engineering, Landscape Architectural, Labor and Employment Relations, Penn State Dickenson School of Law, Engineering Leadership Society and Photography.
Tom Fountaine, State College borough manager, will open the event. Damon Sims, vice president of student affairs at Penn State, will speak about the importance of community relations and engaged scholarship. In addition, Autumn Strausbaugh, former SCC student, will share her experiences in the program.
There will be refreshments and a booth for attendees to submit future projects or collaboration idea.
