
Talk: “Social and Labor Resistance in an Authoritarian Time”

America is going through a period of profound crisis, and there is an urgent need to act. Stephanie Luce’s talk will focus on how social and labor resistance must go beyond defense and move toward offense—highlighting the importance of having a clear vision of what we are fighting for, developing long-term strategies, and building capacity for medium- and long-term struggles.
Stephanie Luce is Chair of the Labor Studies Department, Professor of Labor Studies at the School of Labor and Urban Studies, and Professor of Sociology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She is widely recognized for her research on living wage campaigns and movements.
Her publications include Fighting for a Living Wage and Labor Movements: Global Perspectives. Her latest co-authored book is Practical Radicals: Seven Strategies to Change the World.
