Penn State School of Public Policy, Penn State Office of Government and Community Relations, and the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network are excited to host the inaugural Local Government Expo on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Susan Welch Liberal Arts Building.

This event is designed to showcase the meaningful and rewarding work of local government while connecting community leaders with Penn State students who are eager to explore public service careers.

What’s happening?
✅ Local Government Career Fair – explore internships and early-career roles in local government
✅ Student Internship Showcase – hear from students who’ve worked with local governments in the Centre County region
✅ Interactive Policy Simulation – roll up your sleeves and experience decision-making first-hand
✅ Networking Opportunities – build connections with practitioners and peers

Who should sign up to attend?
👩🏽‍🎓 Students interested in exploring local government career pathways, public service opportunities, and making an impact in their local community.
🏛️ Local government stakeholders (elected officials, managers, and staff) interested in sharing their work, recruiting talent, and mentoring the next generation of public service leaders.

The Expo is FREE to attend — breakfast and lunch provided.
