The 2026 Penn State College of Arts and Architecture Sustainability Symposium marks a significant milestone, taking place five years after the inaugural sustainability symposium in 2020, titled Convergence. Building on the success of the first symposium, which aimed to highlight, connect, and amplify sustainability research within the College of Arts and Architecture while fostering collaboration with the broader Penn State sustainability research community, this second symposium, Cultivation, provides an opportunity to celebrate progress and envision what comes next. Reflecting our continuing commitment to fostering thoughtful growth and responsible innovation, the event will showcase the expanding impact of sustainability initiatives across the college, serving as a platform to inspire further advancements in our shared pursuit to a more sustainable world. The symposium will feature keynote speaker Dr. Sarah Myers West, who will share insights on the sustainability implications of artificial intelligence and how emerging technologies can contribute to cultivating a sustainable future.
