Spring is here, and so is gardening season. Because healthy seedlings are the foundation for a productive growing season, a variety of vegetable and herb plants grown by Student Farm Club will be available for sale on Friday, April 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m in Headhouse 2, across from the Creamery on Curtin Road. All proceeds will benefit the Student Farm at Penn State.
Club members and interns have been busy planting a diversity of crops for the Student Farm’s annual plant sale and upcoming growing season. Seedlings available at this year’s sale include tomatoes, eggplant, squash, peppers, cucumbers, kale, cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, watermelon, herbs, and more.
In addition to seedlings, Student Farm Club will also have club merchandise available for sale, which includes t-shirts, ball caps and canvas tote bags.
Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to attend the sale, and learn more about the Student Farm and Penn State’s Sustainable Food Systems Program. The number of plants available are limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepted forms of payments include cash or check. Student Farm Club members ask sale goers to remember to bring their own bags or a box for purchased plants.
