Penn State’s Sustainability Institute is looking to hire a student communications intern who will work from August 2016 to May 2017. The successful candidate will be a team player with at least a 3.0 GPA, superb written, interpersonal and oral communication skills. Must be a quick learner and able to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines and enjoy a fast-paced work environment. An interest in and knowledge about sustainability issues and concepts is preferred. The applicant should have proficient understanding of AP style writing, adding content to websites, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Pinterest), as well as proven effectiveness at translating technical data into a form for public education. Tasks will include research and writing content about sustainability efforts at Penn State for social media, website and news media. Successful candidates will show a love for using social networking sites and creating compelling content. The applicant should have familiarity and be comfortable with interviewing and interacting with a large variety of sustainability contacts across the University.
The internship will be for 10 hours per week during the academic year. The Sustainability Institute is located at the Land and Water Research Building.
