The gift from the Class of 2014, the HUB Green Roof Terrace, will be officially dedicated on Friday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the HUB-Robeson Center.
Penn State President Eric Barron will be the official host for the dedication ceremony. Other speakers will include Class Gift Communications Chair Danae Blasso, Class of 2014.
More than 2,500 members of the class of 2014 gave nearly $190,000 to the support the construction of the Green Roof gift.
"The longstanding tradition of the senior class gift is one of the most meaningful and memorable at Penn State," said former President Rodney Erickson, who accepted the gift on behalf of the University in 2014. "Class gifts go well beyond providing a tangible symbol of the loyalty and pride of a class.”
The seniors' gift has enhanced and expanded the HUB's green roof terrace. The new terrace provides additional seating as well as more space for organizational programming. The green roof helps advance sustainable architecture and design on campus and provide several key environmental benefits, including reducing the heat island affect that traditional roofs create, allowing for better management of storm water and creating a new habitat for plants, birds and insects.
